VMWare on Nokia tablets

Here's a demo of a Nokia tablet using VMWare to run Windows CE (yawn) and Android. Finally, a reason to dig my Nokia N810 out of the drawer and play with it again.

Nokia N810 WiMax... and?

N810-WME There's a whole lot of talk about the announcement of Nokia's new WiMax edition of their N810 Internet Tablet. My question is: so what?

Did I miss something? Has WiMax been deployed to any great extent? Sure, there's been a lot of plans, the most notable coming from Sprint. But even their intentions now seem to be unclear.

I have a Nokia N810 and I do love it. But unless the new edition replaces the old one on store shelves, for the same money, I don't see the point. The standard N810 connects to any WiFi hotspot or uses my (Sprint) cell phone's EVDO connection via Bluetooth for internet access.

It seems to me, by the time WiMax is deployed to any great degree, the N810 will probably be phased out. So what's all the noise about?

Blogging from the N810

Enough apps are finally coming available for my Nokia N810 that I decided to break it out again and play. My biggest disappointment really is that they switched from standard SD cards. With my N800 it was nice to be able to take the card from my Treo or camera and work with the images.

So I'm testing a different approach with this post: the image has been uploaded to Flickr from my Treo, and referenced in this post authored from the 810.

If this works right, Maemo WordPy should read my Flickr account and allow me to bring in images. The editing is suprisingly easy with Maemo WordPy. We'll see how the posting goes.
